Preventive program

Preventive program

A preventive program is a cooperative effort by the patient and a dentist, to preserve the natural dentition and supporting structures by preventing the onset, progress, and recurrence of dental diseases and conditions.

Preventing dental disease starts at home with good oral hygiene and a balanced diet.  It is continued in the dental office by the efforts of your dentist and dental hygienist to promote, restore, and maintain your oral health.

Prevention also includes regular dental exams, cleanings, and x-rays. Sealants and fluoride are also great preventive treatments that help protect the teeth. Prevention helps avoid serious and costly dental problems and is the key to having a healthy, confident, beautiful smile.

Teeth polishing

Polishing the teeth is a method of removing soft deposits from teeth by a special apparatus which ejects powder under air pressure. In this way it polishes the teeth.

Teeth fluoridation

Fluoridation of teeth is done with special pastes, which are applied to the teeth. This is a local application of bio-dissolving calcium and phosphate. Creams BEYOND (Neutral Sodium Fluoride) are also used. The treatment takes 5-6 minutes several times a day, and it is done every six months.

Fissure sealing

Fissure sealing is done mostly in younger patients, on permanent teeth, at the time of teeth change. Light-cured pit and fissure sealant is used.
